The Zenair CH-601 is a popular, versatile ultralight designed by Chris Heintz and produced by Zenith Aircraft Company. It is a low-wing, two-seater aircraft, characterized by its aluminum construction, simple, rugged design, and ability to be assembled as a kit or purchased fully assembled.



E-Props Users Feedback on the CH-601 :

DURANDAL-3
I have meanwhile ordered, received and installed a Durandal propeller. It is replacing a 3-bladed, ground-adjustable Ivoprop propeller.
I am very happy with the new propeller. I have always thought that propellers have existed for so long, there can't possibly be any innovation anymore. Turned out I was wrong. This propeller is a game changer. On a first test flight, I noticed that the recommended 25.5° of pitch were too coarse as the engine only reached about 5,300 rpm WOT. Following the instructions, I reduced the pitch angle to 24.3 deg, and now the propeller is at its sweet spot. On my second flight, I noticed that with the power settings I used before, the plane would fly 6 KIAS faster than before. And I even had to throttle back a bit as the airspeed surpassed Vno. It is obvious that the propeller creates far less drag than the old propeller, which is beneficial in terms of airspeed and fuel consumption (and presumably oil consumption as well).
There are no noticeable vibrations from the propeller, either.
Last but not least, M. Gagné provided excellent support and information and answered all of my questions right away. I am very happy with the product itself and the service. I am not easy to impress, but you guys absolutely nailed it. Kudos to everyone involved!

I have a CH-601. This DUR-3-175-C4-T propeller is so smooth. It's very pleasant to fly. I also like the smooth noise and lack of vibration. I really like the performance, with the amazing esr effect. I've already convinced two friends who have the same engine as me (Rotax).

Impressive propeller on my 601.
I had a wooden propeller on my Rotax 80hp. I changed it for a Warpdrive. It was already better.
But now, the difference with the Warpdrive is really noticeable: I gained at least 60 ft at rolling, 300 ft/min in climb and 8 kts in cruise.
The E-Props are more responsive and lighter. The carbon spacer system is very ingenious and helps reduce vibrations. In short, I am conquered and I promote it.

This ultra-light propeller leaves the other brands (Duc, WarpDrive, Peszke) far behind. On my Zenair 601 912, all flight parameters increased. The Durandal is the perfect product.

Try this am of the e-props propeller.
First impressions therefore because no reliable figures with a wind of 20/25 kts in altitude.
In any case zero vibrations, a plane climbing trees, a playful 220 at 4900rpm and a max rpm of 5550rpm at 240 which still rises timidly I think I'm good!
For those who say that this propeller brakes less on approach, just pull on the stick and don't forget the role of a downwind leg.

A good propeller for my CH 601, better than the Duc Swirl and the Warpdrive I had before. But the Warpdrive was vibrating, speed was not very good, and the Duke was taking a long time to take off and climb. The E-Prop is better for all parameters.

We have experiences of the DURANDAL-3 propeller on my Zenair and the one of my best friend. We would like to share :
– engine runs smoother
– Take off performance and climb performance are better, by 10% (appr.)
– Fuel consumption appears to have decreased by about 8%
– The noise level is much more quiet.
– The customer service is perfect good, thank you very much.

Flight test after 7 hours of local flight operation.
Zenair 601 XL 912S take-off weight about 460 Kg.
Propeller E-PROPS DURANDAL-3 3-blade in 170 cm equipped with its carbon cone in 230
Conditions of the day : Temperature 11°, less than 10 km/h wind, 4000 feet QNH, hygrometry not measured, 5000 rpm 24 inches of intake.
Three branches at 120° of about 100 km each.
Maximum speed in level 235 km/h.
GPS reading: 306 km in 89 minutes, an average of 206 km/h. Fuel consumption 15.5 L/h
The old two-blade variable-pitch propeller in flight did not perform better in these conditions.
