E-PROPS: EASA/DGAC & ASTM certifications / Service Bulletins

The E-Props propellers are designed, manufactured and tested to meet the requirements of the aeronautical standards. Quality and safety are ongoing concerns for the E-PROPS company, throughout the design, procurement, manufacturing, testing and marketing of all its products.

1 - Certifications
2 - ASTM F2506-13 Standards validations
3 - Service Bulletins / Service Letters

1 - Certifications

E-PROPS is engaged in a European certification process (EASA) covering propeller design, production, product certification and maintenance.
These approvals and certificates are complementary and follow the sequence below:
E-Props EASA certification

1) POA – Part 21 Subpart G (Production Organisation Approval) – Production
The POA is the Production Organisation Approval: it certifies that the manufacturer has full control of its industrial processes (quality, traceability, conformity) to produce aeronautical products in accordance with an approved design definition.
At E-PROPS, the Part-21G POA is currently in progress (under instruction in France via OSAC within the EASA system).
Target: June 2026

2) DOA – Part 21 Subpart J (Design Organisation Approval) – Design
The DOA is the Design Organisation Approval: it recognises an organisation’s capability to design and substantiate compliance (airworthiness) of a product, as well as its evolutions (changes/repairs), in accordance with Part-21.
The Part-21J DOA of E-PROPS is currently under instruction with EASA.
Target: autumn 2026

3) TC – Type Certificate – Product certification
A Type Certificate (TC) is an EASA certificate confirming that a propeller model or range complies with its certification basis (technical requirements + demonstration of compliance with a reference standard). Obtaining a TC requires a complete test campaign, including structural testing and extensive vibration testing.

E-PROPS already holds an EASA TYPE CERTIFICATE P.512:
The range of three-blade propellers for geared engines DURANDAL - EPGU3 was certified by EASA in March 2023 under the CS-22 Subpart J standard.
Description of the DURANDAL - EPGU3 range: three-blade, ground-adjustable pitch, carbon composite with titanium leading-edge protection, 8 diameters from 155 cm to 190 cm, weight between 2 and 2.2 kg. For geared engines: max Take-Off Power 73.5 kW, continuous Power = 69 kW   [Rotax 912S/iS].
=> View the EASA Type Certificate here: EASA P.512 (EPGU3) dated 02 March 2023
=> Available on the EASA website here: EASA.P.512 - E-Props EPGU3 series propeller
INSTALLATION and MAINTENANCE MANUAL => EPGU3 MANUAL

The TC for the ASCALON range, two-blade and three-blade propellers for direct-drive engines, is currently under instruction by EASA.
Additional TC applications for other E-PROPS propeller ranges will follow shortly.

4) STC – Supplemental Type Certificate – Installation (aircraft + engine + propeller)
An STC is an EASA approval for a major modification to an already certified product. A propeller STC is specific to each combination (airframe + engine + propeller) and requires a dedicated test campaign to demonstrate compliance in that configuration.
Prerequisite: holding the TC (or an equivalent certification basis) for the concerned propeller range.

5) Part-145 – Maintenance Organisation Approval – Maintenance
Part-145 is the Maintenance Organisation Approval (repair/maintenance) to ensure the continuing airworthiness of aeronautical products and components.
E-PROPS plans to apply for a Part-145 approval for propeller maintenance by the end of 2026.

2 - ASTM F2506-13 Standards validations

The E-PROPS propellers (DURANDAL, EXCALIBUR, GLORIEUSE ranges) meet the ASTM F2506-13 standards, for the Light Sport Aircraft (LSA).

The ASTM F2506-13 specification covers the establishment of the minimum requirements for the design, testing, and quality assurance of fixed-pitch or ground adjustable propellers for Light Sport Aircraft. Strength testing, stress measurement, fatigue strength, and fatigue analysis, endurance testing, and teardown inspection shall be performed to meet the requirements prescribed.

Declarations of Compliance to ASTM F2506-13 :
✗  Range DURANDAL
✗  Range EXCALIBUR
✗  Range GLORIEUSE

3 - Service Bulletins / Service Letters

The Service Bulletins are published by the manufacturers of aeronautical products. They are established to prevent the users of a technical problem, a novelty or an improvement of an aeronautical product, as well as to transmit a technical information concerning the use of an aeronautical product.
The Service Bulletins issued by the E-PROPS company are available hereafter.
