TECNAM P92

In Nov 2022, Tecnam issued a Service Bulletin 3-blade Durandal Propeller approved for P92 Echo MKII

Glorieuse is a propeller that has many advantages. First of all the lightness which makes it very reactive and smoothness. Then, the performances which are very good on my Tecnam. And to conclude, an excellent service of the company, with always someone to answer very quickly, even the weekend. The only thing missing is the control of the propeller with a single lever and we will have the ideal product.

I had the opportunity to test for the first time the new Glorieuse constant speed propeller that I mounted on my Tecnam P92 MK2.
The test took place 'fully loaded' - two pilots (about 85 kg each) and a full tank of fuel (about 80 kg) - on a day with a temperature of 10 degrees and a light rain.
I am very pleased with the performance, especially on take-off, where the possibility of having a minimum pitch greatly improves the performance, allowing to take-off from the ground with confidence, even on a 'short' 400 meters runway like ours.
It seems to me an excellent product and I hope it will be successful in Italy too.

I installed the Durandal three-blade propeller on my Tecnam P92 Echo 80 HP instead of the original two-blade GT propeller. As desired:
- Decreased takeoff roll and increased climb rate;
- Decreased noise and engine idle;
- Increase of the cruising speed.
But I would also like to underline the quality of the advice, both by phone and at the Blois show, from the whole E-Props team.

Contact you to share the tests of my e-props in Tecnam P92 ECHO S with Rotax 912 ULS 100CV engine.-

First Test:
26 ° C, QNH 1019, 2500 ft MSL. Pilot plus passenger = 190 Kg.
Green = 26.45º / Red = 26.45º / Blue = 26.45º
Maximum power 5400 rpm 28.5 inHg.

Second Test:
18ºC, QNH1014, 2500 ft MSL
Green = 26º / Red = 26º / Blue = 26º
Maximum power 5400 rpm 28.5 inHg

Third Test:
18ºC, QNH 1014, 2500ft MSL
Green = 25.4º / Red = 25.4º / Blue = 25.4º
Maximum Power 5500 rpm 28,5 inHg

The E-props propeller weighed 2,650 Kg, the Tecnam GT propeller that I have removed weighs 6,950 Kg, there is an important difference of 6,300 Kg. I have noticed the first thing when starting the engine, it starts much more easily and stops the motor is not jerky.

All three flight tests have been successful, mostly because of the IAS speed gain, but my preference is to sacrifice speed for climbing ability. From the first test to the third I have been gaining climbing ability. Since my plane is a school plane, I would like to know if I can still gain more climbing capacity, that is, do a new test going from the current 25.4º to 24.8º and get 5400rpm at maximum power.

I installed the Durandal propeller on our Tecnam P92, we have now better performance, in particular:
- the shortened takeoff run;
- increased rate of climb;
- higher cruising speed;
- less noise;
- reduced engine idle;
- turning the delicate Rotax 912 100HP off and on;
- the propeller disc in flight is completely invisible. This compared to the previous Italian two-bladed GT two-bladed propeller.
Excellent product, really!
For a take-off of 5500 rpm, we have set the pitch to 26.70 degrees instead of the recommended 25.50 degrees.

We received the propeller yesterday and mounted it on a P-92 100HP.
We are very happy with the incredible performance of your propeller! To give you an idea, at 4.500 RPM we have a speed of 100 Kn/h. and at 5000 RPM we have a speed of 120 Kn/h.
