E-PROPS : Workshops and Production Means

E-PROPS's headquarters, research office and ultra-modern workshops are located on Sisteron airfield LFNS (town : Vaumeilh), North of Sisteron, Alpes de Haute Provence - between Grenoble et Marseille, at an altitude of 535 m.
The industrial area has an access to the 1000 m / 3280 ft runway.

eprops nouvelle usine
E-Props's main plant, with CNC machining centers, robots and additive manufacturing machines
Production: 75000 propeller blades / year
Plant undergoing PART 21G certification

This ultra-modern factory building features a powerful ventilation system fully controlled to save energy, with high-efficiency heat exchanger, adiabatic air conditioning (rainwater) and thermal storage, to achieve a regulated temperature of 25°C in summer and 21°C in winter. The entire system was designed and manufactured by E-Props engineers.
The factory roof is equipped with photovoltaic panels with a total capacity of 500 kVA.

2 - Means of production

Customized RTM injection center
This is an ultra-modern, computer-controlled, 18-ton machine complex, enabling the molding and injection of 350 carbon propeller blades per day. Designed and manufactured entirely by E-Props engineers.

Two 8-axis machining centers with laser scanner (TRM-8)
These CNC machines have been custom-designed and built to enable fully automatic dimensional analysis, grinding and finishing of carbon components, without dismantling the part. They are equipped with 5-axis adjustable spindles programmed according to the numerical definition of the part, with a large tool magazine. The precision of the laser scanner is 5/100ths of a millimetre. The scanner scans the part, then the program recognizes it using its database, and the various tools then perform all the finishing tasks: deburring, cutting, drilling, sanding and polishing. All stages between mould release and transfer to the finished parts warehouse are automatic. A robot arm presents the components to the machining center.

Blade, hub, spacer and spinner molds
E-Props engineers design and manufacture molds for propeller blades, hubs, spacers and spinners.
Several mold technologies are used.

Professional 3D printers
To produce tooling, some molds, prototypes and pre-production parts, as well as ultra-light functional components.

Integrated IT management system
The plant and the entire production chain are managed by a dedicated IT system designed in-house: E-Light lighting with home automation, fire and intrusion alarms, internal and external cameras, and of course management of the entire production line for perfect traceability.

Test benches
- Fatigue test rig: the carbon propeller is subjected to alternating bending to reproduce engine torque and demonstrate the true potential of the hub-blade assembly.
- Mechanical traction test rig: 40-ton hydraulic jack for traction and compression testing of blades and hubs. Instrumented for data recording. Height: 3.5 m, weight: 300 kg.
- Instrumented propeller test stand for operating tests, with traction measurement system. An electric motor enables comparative propeller noise tests.

3 - Localisation : Sisteron airfield

The company HELICES E-PROPS is located at the edge of the Sisteron - Vaumeilh airfield (LFNS), 10 minutes flight south of Gap-Tallard.
Address: 195 Route de l'Aviation 04200 Vaumeilh
GPS: 44°17'03.9"N 5°55'58.9"E
The grass runway is 1000 m long, with a 700 m acceleration strip.
This airfield, managed by the Gliding Club, is for restricted use.

However, it is possible to land there without prior request to come and see the based companies (E-PROPS and restaurant): a permanent NOTAMauthorizes access to aircraft without formalities.
EXTENSION DE L'USAGE RESTREINT AUX AERONEFS UTILISANT LES SERVICES DES ENTREPRISES SITUEES EN BORDURE DE L'AERODROME.
"EXTENSION OF RESTRICTED USE TO AIRCRAFT USING THE SERVICES OF COMPANIES LOCATED ON THE EDGE OF THE AIRFIELD"
It is therefore not necessary to contact the DGAC or the airfield manager before landing.
Just check that the NOTAM is active.

In case of possible radio contacts, specify that you come to see E-PROPS.
For propeller assemblies or controls, come directly to the front of the ELECTRAVIA - E-PROPS hangar by following the taxiway (do not pay attention to the yellow crosses drawn on it).
Please notify the E-PROPS team of your visit a little in advance.
