Durandal / Excalibur technical form

The data of your installation, needed to manufacture your propeller.

1Aircraft and engine data

Enter your aircraft or select a predefined model from the list.
Seen from behind the aircraft, in the direction of the propeller wind.
The drilling patterns offered depend on the gearbox ratio.

2Propeller specifications and accessories

Minimum ground clearance: 22 cm.
Available diameters depend on the number of blades.
With a 2.27 gearbox: 175 cm maximum. This gearbox turns the propeller faster: we limit the diameter to keep the blade tip speed down, which limits noise and keeps good performance.

3Mounting and carbon spacer

4 blades and more: 220 mm spinner minimum.

Durandal or Excalibur?

Durandal and Excalibur are the same ground adjustable pitch propeller, made for the two directions of rotation. The right model depends on the engine and on the configuration of the aircraft: the form selects it for you.

For another engine, please give its model in the form: we will define the propeller according to its direction of rotation.

Carbon spacer length – how to define it

1. Define the gap G you want between spinner and engine cowling. Usually 10 mm is perfect.

2. Take the measure M.

GMheSPINNERENGINECOWLING
Option 1Flange outside the cowling The gearbox flange protrudes from the cowling by M. he = G − M − A
GMheSPINNERENGINECOWLING
Option 2Flange inside the cowling The gearbox flange is set back inside the cowling by M. he = G + M − A
GheSPINNERENGINECOWLING
Option 3Flange flush with the cowling The gearbox flange is aligned with the cowling edge. he = G − A

4. The form calculates a suggested spacer length from G, M, A and the option. Spacers are available in 5 mm steps, so the value is rounded up: the actual gap is never smaller than the one you asked for.
